Justin Bieber Asks Eleven Year Old Girl To Sing
It seemed like a typical afternoon for eleven year old singer and musician Ava Otterbein. As she frequently sets up her microphone and amplifier to sing most Saturdays on the corner of Church Street in Montclair, NJ. Last week proved to be a little different as Grammy Award winner and megastar Justin Bieber was in the area shopping with friends.
“Ava had just finished 7 songs and she stepped aside from the mic.” says Otterbein’s mother Melynda. “Then I looked over and this kid takes her mic and starts talking into it. I’m thinking what the heck! I was about to say something to him when I noticed a lot of young girls started gathering. Then we realized, It was Justin Bieber!”
Bieber was at first unrecognizable in a baseball cap and glasses. He leaned over talking into the mic asking the growing crowd of fans, “Hey guys, how are you guys doing? How’s your day going?”
Bieber then said pointing to Ava’s mic and amp, “Who’s stuff is this?”
Ava standing in front of him said, “Mine.”
Then Bieber asked, “Can you play a song? Oh, Please, please, please?”
Below Justin can be seen in the video playfully talking to the young fans and saying, “Just get off your phones and be normal.” as he stepped aside to enjoy Ava’s rendition of Colbie Caillat’, Brighter Than The Sun.
Otterbein’s been singing for years and says she was excited to play for the star, “I’m definitely a fan of Justin. I was really nervous when he asked me but once I started to play I felt really good, the same as when I was playing earlier. I was just trying hard not to laugh because he was looking at me and yelling stuff.”
Bieber sounds like a new fan of Otterbein’s as he can be seen in the video rocking out and saying, “Yeaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!! Best day of my life!”
Mid song Bieber then high fives fans and Otterbein and says, “I gotta get out of here. You sound great!” and then gives the crowd his best “Dab” gesture.
As you can tell in the video, Otterbein definitely has the talent to sing professionally. Hopefully she can get discovered the same way Justin Bieber did when he was discovered on youtube by a manager at the age of 12.
The Biebs is no stranger to the Montclair area as NSSM’s reported a sighting of him a few years ago picking up his pastor’s child from the neighborhood school.
