Ghouling it up Crafty Style at Woman’s Day Magazine Event

IMG_3651Yep, it’s that time of year again, when I  drag out my cobwebbed skeletons, my cystic acned looking gourds and of course my crazy costumed wigs with crunchy leafs mashed in them because the new Christmas of Holidays is here; HALLOWEEN!

When did this ghoulish jubilee become so flipping out of control?  From costume parades, harvest hay rides and haunted house tours filling up our October calendars; it’s nice to dial it back a bit and relax with your kids while whipping up some fun crafts.

IMG_3663Every year, I look forward to finding  easy and fun projects to do with my little kiddos. So,  I was super excited to join my fellow bloggers and the talented editors at the offices of Woman’s Day Magazine for their Halloween DIY Event. I knew these were my kind of  ladies when they escorted me to their crafting headquarters through this creepy door adorned with bulging eyes.

This gifted artsy fartsy creative team knows exactly how to get their Halloween CRAFT ON!  They gave us new pointers on how to create custom spooky birdhouses and methods to pimp out  your Holiday Pumpkins.

I slurped coffee, ate sugary treats and zoned out customizing Pumpkin2my own J. Crew inspired birdhouse  with my awesome crafting buddy, Editor and Chief of Woman’s Day, Susan Spencer.

The best tip of the morning? We were told to layer adhesive photo corners as a faux roof for our haunted houses. IMG_3653Adding each shingle took time but I mentioned to Susan that the repetitive motion was actually quite relaxing and therapeutic. “Yes, It’s almost like zoning into a  meditative state” said Susan.

IMG_3697IMG_3701As soon as I left the event, I zipped right into Michael’s and picked up more supplies and had a fun afternoon with my daughter and son creating their own spooky houses.  So, quick before the harvest frenzy gets away from you!  Pick up this month’s Woman’s Day magazine and check out some of their awesome ghoulish crafts to do with YOUR  kids on this long Holiday weekend.

With warmed candied apples and cinnamon crunch,

  1. Nice post. I learn one thing more difficult on different blogs everyday. It’s going to all the time be stimulating to read content material from other writers and apply somewhat one thing from their store. I’d favor to make use of some with the content on my weblog whether or not you don’t mind. Natually I’ll offer you a link in your net blog. Thanks for sharing.
